What the research found
- Testosterone and strength. Men and women aged 57 to 72 took 400 mg of Tongkat Ali a day for five weeks. Total and free testosterone both rose significantly, and so did grip strength.
Henkel et al., Phytotherapy Research, 2014 - Erection and desire. 109 men aged 30 to 55 took 300 mg a day for twelve weeks. Erectile function and libido improved significantly against placebo. One capsule holds more than that dose.
Ismail et al., Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, 2012 - Fatigue. In men aged 50 to 70 with low testosterone, fatigue scores fell significantly from the second week, at 100 and 200 mg a day.

The effect was strongest in men whose testosterone was low to begin with.
